*We met NORTH (yes actually north !!)@9am (zzzzzzzz) to beat the heat & the church crowd to a popular restaurant Sunday morning. Under clear blue skies & moderate tempertures, 8 people, 2 Zs, 2 RXs, 1 Corvette & 1 Mustang followed Charlie's new route to Kingsland. The open, low-traffic North Parmer Lane extension and deserted county roads took us to Andice, Round Mountain & Kingsland by a zig-zag fashion. I don't know how he finds & remembers these often unmarked, always new, back roads.
*The Junction Restaurant (www.Junction-House.com) is a nicely restored victorian-style mansion and a local favorite. The Sunday Buffet had all the best chicken, fish, pasta, soup, salad & home-made desserts your mom or grandmother hopefully fixed for family events. Everyone was very friendly and attentive, the food good and everything pleasant.
*The way home was virgin territory again until a short hop on 71W led us to Angel's Ice House (www.AngelsIceHouse.com) for some live blues music & a few cold ones. Another nice day in the hill country.
*Everyone was home by 3pm or so on less than 1/2 tank; Brilliant !!
Thanks again to Charlie Cluck, the best ever Z Event Planner for the usual unique one-of-kind drive.

*Another mild & sunny day for us again. 8 cars & 12 people showed in the usual mix of RXs, Miatas, a Cougar, Z06, & Mustang Cobra. Traffic was light as we drove Lime Creek, 1431W & Nameless Road to the mid-stop in downtown Liberty Hill.
*It warmed up as we left, but no where near the 112+ degrees of last year. The pace picked up to "brisk" on the deserted roads ending @1431 w/nobody lost or left behind. A reserved table was ready @The Pier Restaurant/Point Venture Marina on Lake Travis. It was lake food: Fried pickles, chips, salsa, tacos, burgers, fish & chips- but good. A nice bar, view of the lake w/a cooling breeze; it was the place to be.
*The cat fish had moved dockside, obviously well fed w/more & bigger ones than ever. Some were 3 ft. long & maybe 40 lbs. At HEB's $3.98 per lb. that's a $120. catfish trimmed. Feeding but no fishing is allowed; oh well !! Maybe a midnight canoe trip.
*The other kids & I tossed them baskets of chips & other left overs until the water foamed & splashed with so many big fish you might momentarily imagine walking on them as possible, ...but too scary.
*About 2pm+- we split for home by reversing the 1431/Lime Creek route; home by 3pm+. Just a good old Sunday drive through the hills to the lake. Mark Stein has some pictures for Randall to post on the forum.

Time to go east for a change. Good weather again for a day's total of 11 cars & 16 people: 3 RXs, 1 Vette, 1 Mustang Cobra, 1 Mustang Bullet, 1 SC Mustang GT, 2 Crossfires & 2 Zs.
Charlie Cluck, Z Club Events Planner, has a fondness for fun-to-drive but often unmarked roads. Good thing it's our normal practice to stay together in site of the car ahead & follow turn directions by radio. As we wound through some areas known only to the locals, one of our new visitors, who twice refused a loaner radio, lagged too far behind. Finally, inevitably, he missed THE critical "...turn left @the white stone mail box" radio call & was last seen heading down a gravel road in a cloud of dust, not to be heard from again that day. Oh well,... live & learn. Sayanora & bon voyage.
Missing only one car, we arrived in the historic part of Smithville, site of the "Hope Floats" movie & Pockets Grill(www.PocketsGrill.com/IssuuMenu.htm) in an old mansion. The food was good, pre-tested as usual by Charlie. Since Cindy's Gone Hog Wild would be overflowing due to the Republic Of Texas Biker Rally, some of us re-routed to a back way home. Others, led by the infamous Ted Schenk at a "brisk pace", went way west to The Albert Dance Hall & road house (www.AlbertTexas.com) near Stonewall for live music w/a cold one+ under huge 200 year old oak trees. Loads of motorcycles & yuppie bikers.
After having way too much fun, the survivors continued on to Johnson City & The Silver K Cafe (www.SilverKcafe.com) for a great, as always, dinner. Home by scenic Fitzhugh Rd. before dark. Long day, nice weather, winding roads, good company, music, fine food; lucky us. Thanks for the routes, Charlie & Ted. Send any pics to me or Randall Edwards.

*This was another good trip with Charlie Cluck, Z Club Events Planner, who drives all roads, tastes all menus & maybe ....checked all wineries before taking us there. Luck was with us again as weather was cool & dry.
*A mid-sized group of 10 people with 7 cars including Z, RX, MX3, Corvette, Mustang, Miata & BMW models drove the best routes through Fitzhugh, Johnson City, Sandy, & Fredericksburg. Coming back by Stonewall, Henly, Blanco & all those tiny roads like Mt.Gainer & Gaitlin Creek Rds to Driftwood, we did 4 wineries & lunch at a casual pace.
Here's how it went from the Oak Hill "Y" & Fitzhugh Rd:
*Texas Hills Winery-Johnson City(www.TexasHillsVineyard.com).
*Rancho Ponte Vineyard-Fredericksburg (www.RanchoPonte.com).
*Lunch-Full Moon Inn/Willie's BBQ & Steakhouse-Luckenbach (www.FullMoonInn.com).
*Perdernales Cellars-Stonewall (www.PerdernalesCellars.com).
*Driftwood Estate Winery-Driftwood(www.DriftwoodVineyards.com).
*Safely home or settled in by 5pm !!
I had no idea how many wineries were close by in the Hill Country. France, Italy & Napa Valley, ...eat our corks !!
Thanks to Charlie & all who came, especially from far Temple, Waco & Ft.Hood. Please send pictures to Randall Edwards or me (LarryDavidson@PeoplePc.com).

*It was a last minute rush, but we made it a club event. Jerry Adair, our new Technical Advisor, got the info & organized the gathering. John Long @AutomotiveSpecialists generously paid our entry fees:
Jerry/Julia-red 2+2 1st gen.
Mike Walsh-blue 3rd gen.
Ron/Fay Brothers-silver/blue 2nd gen. modified custom 2nd gen. TII.
Larry Davidson- black 2nd gen. convertible.
*After breakfast @BB's Home Cooking, we rolled into reserved club spots @the Sun City Center in Georgetown. The weather was cool/breezy as we set up chairs/coolers under tree-shaded grassy islands. 200+ other antique, classic, rod, muscle, exotic, sport & rare vehicles of all types were entered. Our club/sponsor info table drew lots of attention w/the rotary engine display as the star attraction. Piston owners were fascinated w/the simplicity of the Wankel cutaway; we took turns educating those with way too many engine parts under their hoods.
*REVELATION: While all of us have a sometimes different favorite activity, attending/visiting other events can be a lot of fun. By getting out of our cubby holes to support them, they will support us, participation is better & we all have a good time @more events. This show was a classic example of how members of a small club get the most payback with a little mutual cross-over interest. As an example, it wasn't my usual TopDownBackRoads in the Hill Country, but I had a great time !! We go again next year w/a larger group; also the N.Austin Texas Classic Car Show comes in October.
Summary: Fun is contagious, get around & spread it around, the more the merrier.
*A really good time was had by all & we lingered @the show 'til mid-afternoon & had a late lunch @BB's....again. Julia took many pictures; Maybe get them to Randall Edwards-Web Master to post ??
Thanks to all who made the effort/took the time to enter/visit/sponsor here.
